So, I went shopping for jeans Sunday. Not fun. Almost as bad as bathing suit shopping, okay maybe not, but still… I did that thing that you are totally not supposed to do and bought jeans that were a bit too tight but convinced myself they would soon fit perfectly as I was starting a diet. I truly had intentions to start a healthy eating regimine and go running regularly, but then I went home and watched Julie & Julia. Now I have my i phone calendar loaded up with Julia Child recipes including, but not limited to, chocolate souffle, ham and cheese souffle, boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, and an apple and custard tart. I know tailors can take jeans in, but can they take them out? I’m gonna need a few extra inches in the waist to make room for all the French deliciousness I have planned. I’ve been very neglectful of my little blog these past few weeks. The heatwave we’ve been having has made me extremely lazy, and has also put a huge damper on my desire to fire up the stove and oven. That’s why I made these cookies at 6am, before our non-air conditioned house turned into a sauna. I am NOT a morning person, but man oh man were these cookies worth rising early for. They’re really just basic chocolate chip cookies with broken up oreo pieces inside. Simple but heavenly. I ate a few for breakfast, obviously. That’s the problem with early morning baking…. I felt very patriotic making this breakfast considering corn and potatoes are the pride of America’s heartland. It definitely helped that I had the Olympics on in the background and was frying up the bacon right as Serena Williams won a gold medal and the National Anthem started playing. But then, right as I was throwing the potatoes into the bacon grease, the flag fell. Whoops. But it’s okay, because my breakfast was still delicious. And I think they rescued the flag right?
